Introduce yourself!
Abigail Pierce. I’m a 23-year-old Georgia native who loves all things related to the ocean, travel, and being in the outdoors. I’m a UGA grad living in Atlanta but love to spend my time off finding my next adventure.
Do you ocean surf, wake surf, river surf, paddle surf? How did you get into surfing? In Atlanta or somewhere else?
I ocean surf. As a kid, I always dreamed of riding my first wave and finally made that a reality at New Smyrna Beach when I was 16. After that, I was hooked.
Where and how often do you surf?
I surf up and down the Space Coast when I can but love planning trips to surf in iconic locations like Costa Rica, Portugal, and California. I try to get on a board at least every few months but want to go more often.
What is your favorite thing about surfing/What do you do to advance your surfing?
I love feeling a connection to the ocean. There’s such a sense of power when you’re riding a wave or even paddling out through the breaks. There’s no other sport quite like it. I try to train when I’m out of the water so next session I can have more power and endurance.
What are your hopes for the Atlanta surfing community in the future?
I hope to continue to grow into a group of like-minded individuals sharing stoke in a place where you wouldn’t expect to find surfers. I’m really excited to be more involved with this community.
