Introduce yourself!

My name is Liam Spoon. I am a film major at Western Carolina University and thoroughly enjoy action videography.

How did you get into surfing? In Atlanta or somewhere else?

I got into wake surfing through my job at a marina on Lake Burton.

Where and how often do you surf?

Over the past two summers, my good friend and coworker Samuel Poole and I have spent countless hours outfitting his 21 foot 2004 Malibu into a wake-throwing monster. We can proudly say the Franken-bu throws a better wave than some of the newer wake boats out here. We hit the lake after work almost every day, rain or shine.

What do you do to advance your surfing/what is your favorite thing about surfing?

Wake surfing has given me an outlet to express my talent behind the camera.

What are your hopes for the Atlanta surfing community in the future?

I would say wake surfing is a fairly well-known water sport, however, it doesn’t have the largest media coverage. I am hoping to catch this metaphorical wave and combine my skills on the board and behind the camera onto the screen.
