Every person has a story and this is the latest installment of our Surf ATL Community Spotlight series where we will feature surfers and those part of the surf culture in the Atlanta area. Check out our previous spotlights on Thomas Roginsky here, Spencer Broome here, Anthony Kennedy here, Nick Bramwell here, the Merlo Family here, Mike Dobbs here, and Kristian Erik Bjerke here.

If you love riding waves or know someone who does, message us via one of our social media channels or reach out via the contact page on our website. It doesn’t matter your skill level or if you are a wake surfer, ocean surfer, paddleboarder, or river surfer. We want to put the spotlight on you!

Introduce yourself!

My name is Jamie Eichler. I was born and raised in Forsyth County and currently live on the north end of Lake Lanier with my wife and two daughters. I am a sponsored rider for Adrenaline Watersports, Singleton Marine Group, and One Wake.

Do you ocean surf, wake surf, river surf, paddle surf? Any or all of the above?

I surfed the North Shore in Hawaii a few times but that was not smart and very embarrassing! I spend every bit of my extra time wake surfing with my friends and family.

How did you get into surfing? In Atlanta or somewhere else?

In 2013 Singleton Marine Group asked me to test out the Malibu Surf Gate and I was blown away and hooked! I hung up the skis and wakeboard for good.

Where and how often do you surf?

We ride year-round and clock easily over 500 hours on the water up on the North End of Lake Lanier.

What do you do to advance your surfing/what is your favorite thing about surfing?

I love wake surfing because it is the perfect way to make memories with the ones you love.

The best way to advance your surfing is to ride with people who are better than you. It is amazing how you are naturally pushed to learn and try new things by watching others ride. Craig Waycaster is the local surfer who has been a big influence on my riding last year.

Any surfers in the Atlanta or Georgia community catch your eye?

My favorite surfer has to be my daughter Alice Eichler. At six years old, she rips better than most adults!
